I type well enough that autocomplete words is of little help to me. I need to autocomplete phrases and very long words, not be cluttered by smaller words to choose from.

I used a wonderful but unstable program called Intellicomplete and Ultimashell some years back. They're gone, apparently. However, there were two features that made their completion program very powerful, and you might be able to build them in.

1) Entering new words and phrases was done by pressing a hotkey after you typed the word or phrase, then choosing from a list presented thus:
1. last word
2. last two words
3. last three words
4. last four words
and so on. On selecting one of these from the list, the word or phrase would be included in the dictionary.

2) When a word or phrase was autocompleted, it would trigger a list of words and/or phrases from the dictionary that would most commonly follow the word or phrase just completed. Entire sentences and paragraphs could be completed by just a few keystrokes in this fashion.
